Dr Kiesha Warren-Gordon’s substantive areas include community engagement; and violence against women. Her research explores the intersection of race and class in the miscarriage of justice, violence, and intercultural conflict. Her work also centers on critical approaches to community engagement while working with marginalized communities. Currently, her research projects include critical pedagogical approaches to teaching positive community involvement outside of traditional criminal justice educational norms as well as, violence against women of the diaspora.
Her service work includes serving as Indiana Campus Compact Senior Faculty fellow, where she mentors’ faculty across the state of Indiana as they participate in community engagement and service-learning projects within their communities. Her community engagement work has also been supported financially: to date, she has received over $55,000 in grants to support my community engagement endeavors locally and internationally. One of her most recent grant-funded projects is titled: “Confronting Racism in Indiana.” It consists of a multi-disciplinary team of Muncie community members, Ball State faculty, and business professionals. The team has adopted a community-based participatory action research and decolonizing approach.
